The Goonies ESU is open to both boys and girls aged between 14 and 18. We are always looking for new people to join the Unit. Use. If you like what you see on the website and want to get involved, then Contact Us to find out more and arrange a no commitment visit.

If you are all ready involved in Scouts elsewhere you can still remain involved with your group as a Young Leader. You will be able to retain your Group's identity by adding a few extra badges to your uniform.

All new recruits may have several visits to our meetings to decide whether or not they feel Explorer Scouting is for them, before we ask you to join the unit and become invested. So you've got nothing to loose by giving it a go.

We have an experienced Leadership Team, however we are always keen to recruit new members! Training and selection is overseen by the Scout Association to ensure their suitability and competence. Training includes first aid, child safety, programme planning and camp leadership. All adult leaders and helpers pass a Criminal Records Bureau check to ensure their suitability.

We are also keen to recruit students from the local colleges/universities, who were maybe involved in Scouting 'back home' (although this is not essential) and want to know how they can get involved here in Leeds. This is a good place to start, then if you fancy working with a different section (age range) then we will be able to point you in the right direction.
